"We owe it to the world to vote Obama. It's a gift, an apology and a promise in one gesture."
I posted that message on Twitter a few weeks back and got some great feedback, but this note from Jonathan was the most remarkable response of all.
What he had to say brought a tear to my eye, so I wanted to share it here:
Hi,
I'm a South African, and I've just gotten back from a trip to San Francisco, and I'm busy writing it up, which reminded me of this tweet that you made.
That was one of the most awesome things I've read in a long time - not just perfectly worded, but a lovely sentiment to boot. I just wanted to let you know that the rest of the world is watching, and holding thumbs, and cheering you on, and that we know and appreciate that you don't all fit the stupid-irrational-and-close-minded stereotype that America has been saddled with.
Anyway, just wanted to say that. One more week!
Cheers,
Jonathan

Your original tweet was beautifully eloquent and the response equally so. Thank you for sharing. There is indeed hope for all of us.
