Top 101 Films of the Aughts, per me

I've never done a "best films of the decade" list, much less one that's 100-strong, but thanks to the esteemed A.A. Dowd, I was invited to participate in The 100 Best Films of the Decade project presented by In Review Online. Dowd is the man behind the curtain, tabulating and coordinating. You can see the cool poster he commissioned for the occasion at his blog link above.

The compiled results of all the participants' Top 100 lists will be revealed in February on In Review Online's site, but I've been granted permission to pimp my personal Top 100 list now.

And I say "Top 100," but you'll see I've given you a Nictate blog exclusive -- a 101st film! Mostly because I just remembered it fondly today.

Update: Realized I'd overlooked Reygadas' brilliantly spare Silent Light. Now added at #102 (out of laziness).

Another update: If you only rent one movie because of this list, make it Late Marriage. It's my favorite underdog here.

Awesome undertaking! I can't wait to pore through them more closely. Another reason to delay my return to the workforce. That, and I really don't have any decent offers! I'm thrilled with Dogville at your #1: I don't even know anyone else that saw it.
